it's all in my head
I went back to the seamstress today, my dress was perfect, though I did shorten it a bit more; now it is tea/bellow the knee length instead of ballet/mid calf. How the bodice was fitting was all in my head. I'm going to be beautiful and twirly!
aaaaargh
I kept thinking about my dress last night and little tweaks that they should make to make it even better. Ugh. I sent a 4 AM email to the seamstress! I'm turning into one of those typical freakout brides! Rut ro.

first dress fitting!
I ordered a muslin for my dress, so that it would be fitted exactly to me and include 2 fittings. One with the muslin (made to my measurements) and another once the real dress is in. Weee! It was so twirly and fun, I'm glad I picked the dress I picked. I asked the seamstress if the dress is popular and she told me that it is with girls with "bubbly personalities." I know I -can- be bubbly, but some times I'm kinda dowdy and boring too. Oh well. TWIRL!

vacation or fly-by?
Um, so, incase you need to be brought up to speed we're getting married on the Sunday afternoon of Columbus Day weekend (meaning most people have Monday off). Who out there in the blog-0-sphere is coming early for shabbat? We're going to have an auf ruf at Bonai Shalom on Saturday and co-host Ben's parents have kindly offered to co-host kiddush lunch with the bar mitzvah family that will be celebrating on the same day. Is anyone going to be around for kabbalat shabbat? If so, please comment here or let your favorite person related to this shindig know.

100th post & it's time for my first dress fitting
I got a call that the muslin for my dress is in. Crap. I'm EXACTLY the same size/shape that I was back in February and a year ago, and the same size I've been basically since I graduated from college 3 years ago. I keep hoping that I'll loose some weight or gain some muscle, but it's just not happening. Between working from home and perfecting kitchen techniques, I'm feeling kinda chubby lately. Pooh.
So yeah, I've got 1 week to get comfortable with my body because some elves are going to make a dress just for me. First, they'll fit a muslin to me, then take it and make a real dress out of silk for me. My dress. My twirly wedding/party dress.

Oh, and I've blabbed my 100th post now. I hope you enjoy the gift of wedding pants above. It I were a waif with a big old 'fro I'd might have wanted to rock a similar look. Too bad I'm not a waif, but a short curvy girl. Instead, I'll be rocking a twirly party frock with a sweetheart/halter neckline. It's going to be awesome.

invitations
Ugh. That's the best thing I have to say about them. There are 3 that we're debating. All have their merits and their faults (ok, their faults are mostly price). Here are the contenders:
most affordable option - Total internet based company, no samples are available in the font/ink color we want to use. Also, to get our names in Hebrew, we have to send them exactly what we want (not a problem) as a vector graphic and let their graphics people place it for us. We'll get a PDF proof before the presses are run.

middle priced option - Supports a local business to Ben's parents (in Brookline), but I'd have to order the accent ribbon online and then mail it to the invitation people because neither of us like Apple Green (read neon green) as an accent color. Mossy/olive greens are much preferable. The shop is more than willing to work with us and is very comfortable with Hebrew (it's a Judaica shop).

expensive option - Letter press (so pretty) with a Flatirons graphic. Totally awesome, 100% customizable, and made by a local artist. We can get exactly what we want, we just have to be willing to pay for it....
